Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded the United States (U.S.) First Lady Melania Trump with the highest Ukrainian state owner, the Order of Princess Olga, for her efforts to secure a ceasefire in the Russian-occupied frontline city of Oleshky.
The presidential decree issued on November 2, 2026, credited Melania with significant personal contribution in humanitarian support of Ukraine. It also acknowledged her leading role in helping the children in the war-torn region.
The Order of Princess Olga, First Class, is conferred upon individuals who have made exceptional contributions in spheres including science, education, culture and charitable work.
Melania, 56, played a key role in negotiating a six-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine in the southern city of Oleshky, allowing humanitarian workers to deliver essential supplies and evacuate residents trapped by the fighting.
The ceasefire, which lasted from October 27 to November 1, marked the longest local pause in fighting since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
According to the First Lady, the humanitarian operation enabled the evacuation of nearly 800 people, including elderly residents and children.
Oleshky, located in the Kherson region, has remained under Russian occupation, with thousands of residents displaced since the war began.
Meanwhile, Melania is scheduled to host representatives from Russia and Ukraine at the White House on Thursday, November 5, to discuss the humanitarian initiative.
Her office said the meeting would focus on the Oleshky ceasefire, with both countries expected to participate
