Fact-check: Does viral video show attack on Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran?

A video showing a physical altercation involving several people inside a building is being shared online with claims that Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran was attacked in Tehran, the Iranian capital, and subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The claim is false. The video shows clashes between members of the Armenian parliament in October.

Claim

On November 1, a user on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared a video claiming to show several men attacking Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, after he was invited to attend a gathering in Tehran.

The video was accompanied by the caption: “Breaking News. Tehran, Iran. Reports indicate that Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran Imran Ahmed Siddiqui has reportedly been attacked in Tehran, the Iranian capital.”

The post further claimed that following the incident, the ambassador was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

At the time of writing, the post had received more than 325,000 views.

Fact

The video actually shows physical altercations between ruling-party and opposition lawmakers in Armenia’s parliament on October 29. It does not show an incident involving Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, in Tehran, as claimed online.

Through keyword and reverse image searches, Geo Fact Check traced the footage to an Instagram account that published it on October 29 with the caption: “Clashes and widespread chaos inside the Armenian Parliament.”

The Instagram post can be viewed here.

On the same day, Armenpress, the state-owned news agency of the Republic of Armenia, also reported the incident, stating that a physical altercation had broken out between ruling-party and opposition lawmakers in parliament.

The report can be read here.

Additionally, Pakistan’s embassy in Iran dismissed reports that Ambassador Imran Ahmed Siddiqui had been attacked in Tehran, describing the claims as “baseless”.

The embassy’s statement can be viewed here.

Verdict: The video shows clashes between ruling-party and opposition lawmakers in Armenia’s parliament on October 29, 2026. It has no connection to Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, or any reported attack on him in Tehran.
