Vivienne Jolie-Pitt legally drops ‘Pitt’ from her last name

Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has legally dropped “Pitt” from her last name.

The change was approved on Monday 2 November at a hearing in a Los Angeles courtroom.

Her name is now Vivienne Marcheline Jolie, rather than Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt. She has used “Jolie” as a professional name for more than two years.

Vivienne filed in July to drop her father’s surname, citing “personal” reasons, according to Page Six.

Her attorney, Peter Kenneth Levine, appeared remotely, and Judge Virginia Keeny read out the names of the approved petitions, including hers.

The decree is expected in about a week from room 112 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse.

Vivienne was first listed as “Vivienne Jolie” in the May 2024 Broadway Playbill for The Outsiders, on which she worked as a producer’s assistant.

Her mother was a producer on the musical.

She is the latest of the couple’s children to move away from the surname. Her twin, Knox, left it off his June 2026 high school graduation certificate, though he has not yet changed it legally.

Shiloh, 20, legally became Shiloh Jolie in August 2024, shortly after turning 18. Maddox, 25, and Zahara, 21, legally dropped the name earlier this year. Pax, 22, is the only sibling still using Pitt.

Brad Pitt has not commented publicly.

In a September interview with L’Officiel, Angelina Jolie said of her children: “They’re definitely individuals.” She added that a key parental goal is “to basically not get in their way.”
