Ravens plan to make Lamar Jackson highest-paid player in NFL history, report says

The Baltimore Ravens are willing to make Lamar Jackson the highest-paid player in league history, NFL insider James Palmer has revealed.

Jackson is expected to hit the $84.34 million salary cap next season.

Jackson has a no-trade clause and a no-franchise tag clause.

Palmer claimed that the two sides will not strike a new deal in-season, so they will try to get something done between the end of the season and the beginning of free agency, which kicks off in March 2027.

“For the last two years the Ravens have been trying to get a long-term contract done with Jackson, and they keep pushing money down the road. Which is why we’re at $84 million in terms of a cap hit in 2027,” Palmer said on NFL on Prime.

“They’d like this offseason, because they won’t negotiate during the (NFL season) with one another, to get a long term contract done, and I’m told the Ravens are willing to have Jackson be the highest-paid player in NFL history,” Palmer revealed, citing his sources in the franchise.

Jackson, 29, struck an injury to his thumb on the first play of Sunday’s matchup against the Buffalo Bills after he had missed the previous three games with a high left ankle sprain.

The Ravens placed him on injured reserve this week, ruling him for at least four games.
