Met Gala 2027 is months away but designers can begin trying to bring their creative vision to the Metropolitan Museum of Art as the theme for this year is quite unique.
The theme announced is “extraORDINARY: Fashion and the Poetics of the Everyday” and the attendees will be expected to style everyday clothing items as high fashion.
The red carpet will be held on May 3, 2027 and curated by Andrew Bolton, with assistance from Stephanie Kramer and Emily Mushaben.

As always, the theme became a trending topic on social media with fans writing, “i will be SAT,” and “Honestly, this is going to be the best Met Gala ever.”
A third chimed in, “Zendaya better show up with the most extravagant baseball cap.”
While some had reservations about the male attendees, as they quipped, “They making the theme so easy yet the men won’t follow through again,” and “the men reimagining their ordinary clothing (their black suits) items through the lens of high fashion (they’ll still wear a suit).”
One hoped, “i hope designers and guests will understand the assignment,” and “ZARA [Larsson] BETTER BE INVITED.”
