Perez Hilton’s family has shared an update on his condition following his hospitalization after a livestream that appeared to show him self-harming.
According to a report, the celebrity blogger’s first words upon regaining consciousness in his hospital bed were directed at his mother: “I need help.”
The incident occurred during a TikTok livestream in which Hilton, 48, appeared to harm himself while viewers in the comments pleaded with him to stop and called for assistance.
Emergency responders and mental health professionals intervened after receiving numerous calls, and his family has confirmed his children, niece and sister had been inside the home just minutes before the stream began but were moved out safely beforehand.
A source close to the situation told reporters that nothing seemed amiss earlier that day, saying, “He was acting normal. That’s the thing. He was getting excited about future projects. It had been a good day up to then.”
Hilton’s TikTok account has since been banned from the platform, with a spokesperson saying the livestream was flagged by moderation systems within minutes and ran for roughly 15 minutes, disputing earlier reports that it lasted twice as long.
His family has continued to provide updates through his website, thanking followers for their support and asking for continued privacy and compassion as he receives care.
