Joan Jett has canceled her next two shows to recover from orthopedic surgery on a broken back.
The 67-year-old singer’s team announced the sad news on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, August 5.
“Following a recent injury, Joan Jett has undergone orthopedic surgery on a fractured vertebrae and will begin the necessary healing process,” the statement read.
“In close consultation with her doctors, Joan will not be able to perform at her forthcoming September scheduled shows in Costa Mesa, CA on September 5th and in Louisville, KY on September 24th,” Joan’s team penned.
“While Joan hates to disappoint fans, she will be taking this time to focus on physical therapy and healing. She’s looking forward to delivering tremendous concerts for many years to come,” the statement concluded.
For those unversed, the Bad Reputation rocker was due to perform at the Orange County Fair in California and the Bourbon & Beyond Festival in Kentucky.
Joan and her band, the Blackhearts, had been on the road since May and wrapped several European tour dates last month.
Recently, in an interview with The Telegraph, the Fake Friends hitmaker opened up about life on tour, saying it’s starting to get a bit harder.
“[I’ve been touring] every year of my life since I’ve been in a band,” Jaon said. “So the touring I don’t mind. It’s the traveling that’s an a**-kicker, I’ll tell you. As I get older, it’s not easy to recuperate as when I was in my 20s.”
