King Charles held a personal meeting to check everything was ready as he is set to mark an important event in his monarchy.
Buckingham Palace shared some highlights from the King’s surprise visit in London as he is anticipated to reunite with all the working members of the royal family for The Trooping of Colour.
On Friday, Charles, who is the Colonel-in-Chief, paid a visit to the Grenadier Guards at Lille Barracks in Aldershot, where he offered his best wishes.
He said that the soldiers would have “great success” and expressed his confidence in the troops.
“You’ll make us very proud of you,” he told them.
“Earlier today, The King popped in to wish the Grenadier Guards well, ahead of Trooping the Colour tomorrow,” the message read alongside the carousel of highlights.
“At their Company’s base in Aldershot, His Majesty spent time with some of the troops who will be on parade for The King’s official Birthday in London.”
Even though Charles’s actual birthday is in November, Trooping the Colour is the official birthday of the monarch. It is a long-standing tradition of the royals, which is celebrated by a parade.
This is a particularly important year for Charles, who has been dealing with two major extremes in his reign. After being marred by scandals of the royals and controversies, the monarch was also praised for his show of diplomacy during the US visit and the initiatives he has taken in his reign.
It would mark all those accomplishments as the monarchy continues to deal with challenges.
