Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris Jackson, called her father a “funny guy,” confessing the King of Pop was her “best friend.”
The 28-year-old singer recently caught up with Alex Cooper of the Call Her Daddy podcast and shared some rare insights into her isolated childhood due to her famous family.
While gushing over her bond with Michael, who passed away in 2009 when she was only 11 years old, Paris unveiled that he used to be funny around her and that she had a bond of a “best friend” with him.
However, despite having their lives mostly public, Paris previously shared that she does not want to publicly talk about her relationship with Michael as she believes she can keep it to herself.
Paris explained on the Trying Not to Die podcast, “I’m now learning I can have my own personal relationship and I’m allowed to be private about it and I’m now like, my relationship is the most beautiful relationship ever.
“I’m in a very beautiful spot with my dad and I love that and it’s no one’s business and I don’t have to share that with anybody. And there’s a lot of freedom in that, which is really cool.”
Including Paris, Michael Jackson is father to three kids: son Prince and daughter Paris, whom he welcomed with ex-wife Debbie Rowe, and a second son, Bigi, whom he welcomed via surrogate.
Elsewhere during the Call Her Daddy podcast, Paris recalled how her childhood was different from an ordinary childhood.
As she did not spend early childhood at Jackson’s Neverland Ranch, she did spend a few school years there. “I’d wake up and I’d go to … the room that was our classroom, and we would go to school,” Paris shared.
As Neverland Ranch is known for its carnivals, Paris admitted she and her brother were not supposed to visit it.
“It was made very, very clear that all of the attractions there were not for us … that did not belong to us,” she looked back. “That was for underprivileged children and children that were terminally ill that couldn’t go to like Disneyland.”
Paris further shared, “[It was] the same thing with television. We weren’t allowed to watch television or movies unless we were studying it for film with the sound off or on the weekends if we’d done everything we were supposed to.”
Though they did used to have some surprise outing days at Chuck E. Cheese where they had to act “normal” so “no one” would know who they were.
