The 16-year-old prodigy, Man United forward JJ Gabriel, is reportedly inching closer to sealing the deal with Real Madrid.
Gabriel informed United he wanted to cancel his registration in order to become a free agent with immediate effect, in a notice posted on September 15, 2026.
Gabriel, who faced Altetico Madrid on United’s pre-season tour, had been expected to become the club’s youngest debutant in September’s Carabao Cup tie against Brighton.
However, he has chosen to look to elsewhere for senior football and has been training on his own while staying in Spain.
Europe’s leading clubs raced to select the United wonderkid after Gabriel travelled with his family to Barcelona in September.
Multiple UK media outlets reported at the time that Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Paris St-Germain are vying to sign JJ Gabriel, whose real name is Joseph Junior Andreou Gabriel.
After Gabriel obtained a European passport, the way is not clear for him to ink a deal with any club outside England.
Gabriel scored two goals in his first two Premier League U-21 games for United this season but didn’t play against Brentford at Leigh Sports Village in September.
He was picked as the Premier League’s Under-18 player of the season last term, despite being only 14 when the season kicked off.
