Whoopi Goldberg recently made a shocking claim about her paycheque for co-hosting The View.
The 70-year-old American actor and comedian appeared on the Tuesday, August 4 episode of the Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast, where she gave an insight into her salary.
When Palmer asked Goldberg to share her “favorite” thing about The View, she laughingly replied, “The check,” adding, “I love the check.”
“I can only imagine what that check is,” Palmer responded, to which Goldberg went on to say that “no,” she “can’t.”
“Trust me. You can’t. You would be shocked. Listen, you would be shocked. … As soon as they’d show you that check, you’d be like, ‘What the…?’” The Color Purple star urged.
Palmer called it “incredible,” to which she replied, “It is what it is,” adding that she cannot describe in words how grateful she is for the stability she has in her life due to the long-running daytime talk show.
Goldberg explained, “I look around every day before I leave my house and I see my family and I see pictures of folks and I think, ‘Oh, yeah, it’s good to have a job.’ And I come to work… A lot of people don’t have jobs right now, so I’m lucky.”
“I like to talk. I like talking about stuff. I like people. And I’m okay with what I think I believe, and I don’t mind doing that. Even when that irritates people, that’s what the show is. It’s not irritation necessarily, but it’s called The View,” she quipped.
