College football could soon be expanding to a 24-team playoff bracket for the 2027 season. While not all the details are known, the new bracket will double the field by adding one addtional round of games. It will also double the amount of teams who earn a bye.
Michigan at Ohio State or Texas at Texas Tech in the second round? It could have happened. ACC champion Duke instead of James Madison? That would have happened.
