A “supersized” El Niño is very likely to persist into next year, the United Nations is warning, saying the world has entered “a danger zone of extreme weather.”
The U.N.’s World Meteorological Organization said in a news release Thursday that its latest forecasts showed El Niño, fueled by exceptionally warm ocean conditions across the tropical Pacific, is expected to strengthen over the coming months before peaking toward the end of the year.
