‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ rewrites the history books with record after record

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is unstoppable at the box office. Within the second weekend, the fourth Spidey outing raked in $43 million just on Friday and is on the path to a whopping $143 million.

Though the business, according to The Hollywood Reporter, represents nearly a 60% drop from the opening weekend, it is still keeping Tom Holland’s web-slinger perched on top and opening the way for the Marvel film to clinch the third-biggest domestic second weekend ever.

But that’s not all; reports say Sony execs expect Spider-Man: Brand New Day to continue its breakneck pace at the box office and potentially rake in $653 million on Sunday, unlocking another record for the 10-day domestic total.

Not to mention, the latest film has already beaten the previous record-holder, Avengers: Endgame, for the biggest domestic opening weekend ever.

With a budget of $225 million, Brand New Day is going at a sheer speed that is expected to hit the coveted $1 billion club in fewer days.

The film’s logline reads, “It’s a brand new day for Peter Parker. Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control.”

“But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves: a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them,” the synopsis read.
