‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ leak fails to stop Marvel hit from beating ‘Avengers: Endgame’

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ leak can’t stop Marvel hit from beating ‘Avengers: Endgame’

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a tentpole of Marvel, had hype so high that it beat previews of Avengers: Doomsday despite the Marvel blockbuster being leaked hours before release.

In the piracy attack, a high-quality bootleg made its way to the tech mogul Elon Musk-owned social media platform, X.

Though the leak was taken down, it was not before raking in almost 6 million views, according to Variety, which reported the account Fredrick Bryan was behind the release.

To be precise, the post was up for nearly nine hours, during which the leaked film received 143,000 likes and 10,000 reposts.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s reported leak goes to show the sprawling alleged web of privacy whose net Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey was recently also affected by.

Despite the privacy attack, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going at breakneck speed at the box office.

In preview screenings, the fourth Spidey instalment drew $72 million, overtaking Avengers: Endgame’s $60 million record.

Given such a strong response, the domestic opening is eyeing up to $300 million.

However, Sony, under whose banner the film is releasing, offered a cautious estimate of $195 million.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s logline read, “It centres on a Peter Parker forced to fight crime in a world that has forgotten him. Facing pressure as his friends move on, this new reality sparks an uncontrollable transformation in Peter. However, this change may be the only way to stop a hidden, powerful new threat.”
