Ruby Rose recalled that she was once wrongly called a “baby killer” after trying to help an injured child in a playground when she was just 15.
Looking back at the incident on Off the Vine podcast, the Batwoman actress shared that she was with a childhood friend when they found a badly injured four-and-a-half-year-old boy.
Ruby revealed how they first mistook him for a doll.
“As we got close enough, we could tell this was a real baby human — like a four-and-a-half-year-old. There was blood coming out of his ears, nose and mouth. It was very traumatic.”
To seek any adult’s help Ruby and her firned ran to a near by house.
She noted “I thought I’d saved his life because there was a big deep breath.”
Despite the kid received CPR while waiting for an ambulance he later died in hospital because his “brain was dead for so long”.
Police questioned Rose about the incident, and rumours spread at her school.
She recalled, “The police turned up at my school. [Classmates] were like, ‘Baby killer!’ I was just breaking down left, right and centre.”
However after some days the truth eventually came out when the boy’s older brother remembered what had happened.
He had pushed his brother down the slide, where the child got caught on a nail.
Frightened by the blood, he ran away and forgot the incident for weeks.
Ruby took a breath of relief, “He finally had the memory and went back to the police.”
But even after Rose was “cleared”, the boy’s mother did not want her at his funeral.
She added, “So, everyone else went except for me.”
