Queen Camilla steps in to rescue King Charles as reign faces threat

King Charles ascended to the throne at age 73 following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, but who could have thought his reign would be plagued by back-to-back problems?

From family issues to health scares, the monarch was hit with many setbacks in the past years.

First, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s rift with the firm and then their U-turn in the form of a UK return.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s ties with Epstein brought negative light on the royals. Currently, he is under investigation for his alleged misconduct in public office. Also, police confirmed that his and Epstein’s meetings at Balmoral Castle are under ‘active inquiries.’

In 2024, the Palace announced King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, and since then he has been undertaking medical treatment. Unfortunately, his daughter-in-law, Princess Kate diagnosed with cancer at the same.

Now, speaking of the King’s resilience and the force behind him, Queen Camilla, royal expert Phil Dampier told the Daily Mail, “It was always going to be a difficult act to follow, his mother, after a 70-year reign, but he took to it like a duck to water and stamped his authority in the first week.

“It was all going well, and all these problems and challenges have come along subsequently. The main one is him getting cancer and Kate getting cancer as well, so that was a double blow for them.

“Then there’s been all the family problems with Harry and Meghan’s laundry airing and the Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor scandal. Some of these things have been brewing for years, but I don’t think he could have anticipated that they would have blown up so big.”

He revealed that one of the main reasons King Charles still did not give up is Camilla’s support for him. 

He added, “None of these challenges has derailed the King’s reign, and he’s had to be very resilient, but he has a very strong support system in his wife; without her, I think he would struggle.

“Camilla is such a strong support behind the scenes, which is her main role; she has kept him sane and is helping him to navigate each crisis.”
