King Charles has “welcomed” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to move back to England despite the last-minute update to the Palace but Prince William is “fuming” over how he had been left blindsided.
The Prince of Wales, who is still estranged with his brother and had no plans on a reconciliation with him in the near future, has called crisis meeting after the bombshell was dropped by the People Magazine report.
It was confirmed by the outlet that the Sussexes will be moving back by the end of August for an “extended period”, likely to enrol their children, Archie and Lilibet, in school.
Reporters from the Royal Rota have stressed that the return does not change anything in their agreement and there is no ‘half-in and half-out’ option for the Sussexes. But William is not taking any chances.
“William’s team are in intense meetings on how to minimise any risk to him and the family. He’ll be seeking advice from everyone from lawyers to diplomatic-crisis experts,” an insider told Woman’s Day magazine.
“If Charles does go ahead with [a change in agreement with Harry], he has no intention of it remaining that way once he’s King.”
The sources revealed that Palace is “stunned” by the move from Sussex team and the mess it would create as they juggle commercial commitments. Even if they are non-working royals, they will be regarded as royals nonetheless.
“William suspects Harry and Meghan actually do think they’re going to be accepted back onto the Royal roster,” the source noted, claiming that this is the “long game” by the Sussexes.
