Prince William was seemingly taken aback by the reactions of the tenants after he took a historic decision about the Duchy of Cornwall, the royal estate he inherited from his father King Charles.
The residents and tenants had complained and heavily criticised William for selling off one-fifth of the estate, completely dismissing the labour and money they had invested in over the years.
Moreover, they shared that the sale of the massive Bradninch estate in Devon was not handled properly.

Following the backlash, the Duchy of Cornwall has apology to the tenants have promised new valuations of their farms and homes, according to The Observer.
Prince William was “not happy” to read the report, sources had revealed. He had spoken to the duchy’s rural director, Matthew Morris, to discuss the matter.
They are now working to get new independent valuations, with joint instruction by the tenants and the duchy.
Moreover, the director said he would look again at how the money spent on improvements should be recognised.
However, the tenants still have mixed feelings over the matter, as one of them stated that “talk is cheap” and the “proof will be in the pudding”.
Previously, it was revealed that the King was dismayed by the sale and he believes that the rural community is the “backbone of Britain”.
The Duchy of Cornwall spokesperson noted in the statement that tenants are “being supported through the process on an individual basis” as these are “important and deeply personal decisions”.
They added that access to practical guidance from the estate team, independent welfare and mental health support services, and ongoing discussions about what is right for their circumstances are being provided.
“These services have been available for many years and remain available throughout this process,” they continued.
“These changes are part of a long-term strategy to direct future Duchy of Cornwall investment where it can deliver the greatest… benefit for communities, farming, nature and the local economy.”
