Prince Harry has been pursuing his right for police protection after since he left his senior royal position to settle outside of UK with his family.
The risk assessment by RAVEC has reportedly been pending for six months despite earlier reports claiming that there is optimism for the Sussex camp as decision could sway in their favour.
However, a royal expert pointed out a major mistake Harry had made even if he had real concerns about putting his family at risk in the UK.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the UK last month with their children. But Harry had been adamant that he remains a ‘high-risk’ along with his family. Royal editor Emily Andrews believes that all this is a result of the ‘lasting trauma’ that Harry has endured in the past.
William and Harry were very young when they lost their mother and the situation surrounding her death only added to their stress and worries.
“Both hated the press, both blamed them for her death, both were understandably devastated,” she said. “But the lasting trauma perhaps explains why Prince Harry is so paranoid about security, and protecting his own family.”
She noted that Harry “genuinely” believes his wife and children aren’t safe in the UK without guards armed with guns. “Even the offer of accommodation at Buckingham Palace and ‘safe passage’ in and out wasn’t good enough.”
The expert noted that reason why this is all so difficult is because Harry’s mistake to revealing his “kill count”. She expressed that one doesn’t have to be a security expert to know that this puts a target on your back.
“I can’t understand why he didn’t instruct his staff to remain silent,” Emily argued, as it would have saved everyone the trouble. She also warned that Harry is no longer a working royal, hence he cannot act like one on the matter.
