Presley Gerber, the model and only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died aged 27.
Gerber died on Sunday at a rehabilitation facility, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. The cause of death has not been disclosed yet.
A representative for Crawford, Rande Gerber, and their daughter Kaia Gerber, confirmed the death and asked for privacy.
“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” the representative said in a statement to TMZ.
The Independent has reached out to representatives for the family for comment.
Presley Gerber was born in California in 1999 and followed his mother into modelling. He was signed by IMG Models aged 15 and made his runway debut for Moschino in Los Angeles before walking for Dolce & Gabbana in Milan.
He subsequently appeared in campaigns for brands including Calvin Klein, Celine, Pepsi and Omega and walked for Burberry, Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren.
He also spoke publicly about his mental health and addiction struggles.
In a 2023 appearance on the Studio 22 podcast, Gerber said he had dealt with depression and other mental health difficulties and wanted to use his experiences to help others.
“Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do,” he said.
Gerber also described mental health as a continuing part of his life, saying: “It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it.” He subsequently used his social media presence to discuss recovery and mental health, including a series of “Mental Health Mondays” videos.
In an interview for Vogue’s September 2026 issue, published in August, Kaia described her brother’s “decade-long struggle with drug addiction” and said his openness had changed how the family approached his difficulties.
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” Kaia said. “I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help.”
She also described Presley as someone who refused to hide his difficulties. “Now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone,’” she said. “There’s only so much you can hide from the world.”
Gerber was arrested for driving under the influence in Beverly Hills in 2019. He was sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered to complete a DUI programme and two days of community service.
He is survived by his parents, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, and his sister, Kaia Gerber.
