Check your freezer: Lidl has issued an urgent recall of a gelato sold in its grocery stores.
The recall was initiated after routine testing found Listeria in a lab sample, according to a notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
One lot of Lidl’s Gelatelli Coffee & Vanilla Gelato with Coffee Sauce & Cookie Pieces was affected by the recall.
The 16oz pints were sold at Lidl stores in Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington, D.C between July 19 and October 15.
Affected pints have the UPC 4 0564897 22458, Lot number 085261, and Best By date of March 26, 2028.

Customers are urged to check their freezers and discard the gelato or return it to Lidl for a refund.
No illnesses have been reported.
“The health and safety of our customers is our top priority. Lidl US regrets any inconvenience related to this voluntary recall,” the company said in the FDA announcement.
Listeria is a bacteria that can cause the infection listeriosis. It is rare and can go away on its own, but some cases can be dangerous to elderly people, pregnant women and people with already weakened immune systems. The disease’s most common symptoms are fever and flu-like symptoms, including fatigue and muscle aches. Headaches, confusion, loss of balance and even seizures are possible.
The gelato recall is the latest affecting customers.
Last week, more than 1.5 million pounds of various meat products were recalled over serious potential health concerns.
Kayem Foods Inc. initiated the recall after learning that the items may not have been stored at the correct temperature. It has since been deemed a Class I recall by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, meaning “there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”
An investigation that began after a customer reported receiving a warm product delivery on October 1 revealed that a warehouse cooler experienced temperature fluctuations while storing the items, according to FSIS.
Approximately 1,584,361 recalled items were manufactured between March 31, 2026 and October 7, 2026 and are labeled with the establishment numbers “EST. M/P 7839,” “EST. P 20935A” or “EST. M 9520” inside the USDA inspection mark. Affected items were shipped to retail and food service locations across the U.S. and Hong Kong.
Products include various brands of hot dogs, bacon, sausage, and deli meat. A full list of affected items can be found here.
