Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi. The event started at 10:00 am. Modi said the real value of power lies in the purpose it serves, arguing that technology should be used to empower millions rather than benefit only a select few.
Highlighting India’s digital transformation, he said affordable internet, widespread connectivity and platforms such as UPI have expanded access to opportunities for students, small businesses and citizens, while also enabling India to share its digital capabilities with partner countries and the Global South.

Under the theme “A World in Play: Defining the New Levers of Power,” delegates will explore the rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape, assess the risks and opportunities emerging from a period of heightened uncertainty, and collaborate on strategies to drive long-term prosperity. The invitation-only forum will bring together current and former heads of state, central bank governors, Fortune 100 CEOs, sovereign wealth fund leaders, technology entrepreneurs and critical infrastructure operators at a time of significant global change.
Through high-profile plenary sessions, private discussions and bilateral meetings, participants will examine the forces shaping the future, including technology, energy, critical minerals, capital flows and payment systems. Insights and discussions from the forum will be amplified globally through Bloomberg’s media platforms, which reach more than 100 million people every month.
Highlighting India’s growing role on the world stage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in May 2026, “Today, India stands at a defining moment in its journey. India is no longer just a destination for investment; it is a trusted partner in shaping the global future. In our pursuit of Viksit Bharat (Developed India), we are working to build one of the most reliable growth engines of the world and a balanced world economic order.” He added that the Bloomberg New Economy Forum’s decision to be hosted in New Delhi in October 2026 reflects India’s rising influence. “Participants will get an opportunity to experience the energy of a nation that is not just participating in the new economy, but actively defining it,” Modi said.
