Peter Phillips’ wife Harriet has spoken about adjusting to life as a member of the royal family following her marriage to Peter Phillips.
The former NHS paediatric nurse married Princess Anne’s son in June after years spent balancing her career with raising her daughter.
Despite the changes that have come with her marriage, Harriet is determined to stay grounded and hold on to the values instilled in her from an early age.
Speaking to HELLO!, she explained how her upbringing had helped her remain true to herself, saying: “Hopefully, having my feet firmly on the ground beforehand is the most important thing.
If you’ve been through tricky things, you learn who you are and you don’t get lost.”
She was quick to credit Peter for making the transition easier, admitting that while royal life is unfamiliar territory for her, it is something her husband has always known.
“Peter really helps; he’s grounding, because this is his normal. This is not my normal,” she said.
Harriet also praised her parents for giving her a “wholesome, stable upbringing.”
Harriet described building a life with Peter as one of the most rewarding adjustments since their marriage.
“The biggest one is having a new shape of a family.
I’m now married and that’s a pleasurable adjustment, because it’s so lovely having somebody to share life and experiences with.
And trying to fit everything in!” she told the publication.
She admitted that juggling full-time work and motherhood had previously been a challenge, but she is now finding ways to create a better balance.
“Peter and I are so fortunate to have such wonderful girls between us.
I’m excited about what’s to come with our family and always mindful that going gently is so important,” she said.
Harriet also revealed that she has already found someone she feels comfortable turning to for advice.
Asked about her first meeting with the Princess of Wales, she spoke warmly of her, saying: “I can look to Catherine for advice and guidance.
