Patrick Stewart’s ‘Star Trek’ return almost happened before his death

Patrick Stewart had one more Star Trek story he wanted to be part of before his death.

The actor was interested in returning as Captain Jean Luc Picard in a new series, but the project never moved forward.

So now, new details have revealed just how much he wanted to be part of it.

The planned show was called Star Trek: Legacy and was meant to continue the story after Star Trek: Picard ended in 2023.

It would have brought back some familiar characters while also giving new faces a chance to join the crew.

Terry Matalas, who worked on the final season of Picard, recently spoke about the idea.

He, however, revealed that Patrick was excited about returning and even wanted to appear in the show to give missions to the new Starfleet officers.

The series was also expected to feature Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, along with other familiar faces.

The plan, moreover, never got approval, leaving the project unfinished.

Patrick became a much loved part of Star Trek after first playing Picard in 1987.

He continued the role for many years, making it one of the most important parts of his career.

His planned return will now remain a story that fans never got to see.
