Sebastián Lelio, Chilean filmmaker who won an Oscar for his film A Fantastic Woman, has died at the age of 52.
His death has left his family, partner and fans mourning his loss.
Lelio was found dead at his home in Santiago, Chile, on Friday as his partner, actress Amalia Kassai, found him and called the local authorities.
His family and Kassai later shared that he died after health complications. They, however, didnt share an exact cause of death.
Kassai also paid tribute to him by sharing pictures of the couple on social media. She wrote, “I love you in this life and in all the lives to come. He illuminated everything and everything around him … Only love remains.”

The director was working on new projects before his death. These included a film based on the novel Chilean Poet and another project starring Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar Jones.
Lelio was best known for A Fantastic Woman, which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2018.
His other films included Disobedience, Gloria and The Wonder. Sony Pictures Classics also praised his work, saying his films touched hearts and left a lasting mark on cinema.
