Neve Campbell confirms return in ‘Scream 8’

Neve Campbell has confirmed that she will return as Sidney Prescott in Scream 8, less than a year after Scream 7 became the highest-grossing film in the franchise.

The actress made the announcement on Monday during an Associated Press interview promoting her Netflix series Black Doves.

Asked about the horror franchise, she said: “Scream 8. That’s in the pipeline as well.”

Pressed on what the character will face next, Campbell laughed and refused to give anything away. “You know I can’t tell you anything about Scream 8,” she said. “I’ll be in it.”

Her confirmation comes on the back of a huge success for the series.

Scream 7 opened in 2025 with the biggest debut in the franchise’s history, taking $97.2 million worldwide in its first weekend.

It went on to earn $208 million globally from a $45 million budget, making it the most successful film in the saga so far.

Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures, which distributes the series, began developing a follow-up soon afterwards.

Campbell’s relationship with the franchise has not always been smooth.

She sat out Scream 6 in 2023 because of a contract dispute, leaving the film without the character who has been at the heart of the series since Wes Craven’s original.

She came back for Scream 7 after a reported $7 million salary.

Her latest comments suggest the partnership is firmly back on track. Sidney Prescott remains one of horror’s most recognisable final girls, and with the last film’s box office numbers, the studio has every reason to keep the character at the centre of the next chapter.
