The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is celebrating Halloween by sharing some of the weirdest and creepiest pictures from throughout the cosmos. The newest released collection features a large skull, an enigmatic eye looking out into space and a Sun with a smile on its face much like a Halloween pumpkin.
The American space agency published pictures before Halloween, and one of the most dramatic photographs is a picture of the Sun looking like a jack-o’-lantern with two bright eyes and a crooked smile.
The image was actually taken by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) in October 2014, during a time when the Sun’s magnetic activity had produced unusually bright areas in the Sun’s atmosphere.

The other image depicts a large formation of turquoise-green colour that looks like a vast eye, known as the Hourglass Nebula or MyCn 18 about 8,000 light-years from Earth.
The image was taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and shows a structure that is formed by the gas that has been ejected from a dying star.
NASA also included a creepy picture of the Perseus galaxy cluster, in which two gigantic dark holes are surrounded by glowing X-rays that look like eyes in a skull.
Strong activity around the massive black hole in the centre of the cluster created the cavities.
Other pictures show an odd eye-like structure around the star Fomalhaut, and the famous Face on Mars, which can be seen as a human face when viewed under certain lighting conditions.
