Mountain Dew is bringing back one of its most popular flavors — but fans will have to buy a variety pack to get their hands on it.
After Mountain Dew White Out was discontinued six years ago, the soft drink is returning to store shelves in a patriotic 18-can variety pack that will only be available at Walmart for a limited time.
The citrus-flavored soda‚ which was described as having hints of yuzu and lemongrass, was originally released in 2010 as part of a fan-voted campaign before it was abruptly taken off the market in 2019.
Now, fans can get the favorite flavor in Walmart’s “America Pack,” which includes six Code Red Mountain Dews, six Voltage Raspberry Mountain Dews and six of the White Outs. The pack costs around $13, according to Walmart’s website.
The red, white and blue variety pack is learning into the nostalgic flavors ahead of Memorial Day and Fourth of July celebrations amid America’s 250th anniversary of being a country. After it launched Monday, the pack is expected to be discontinued again at some point in the summer.

The limited availability means that there are no diet or zero sugar options of the cans, and that the special release cannot be ordered online.
Pepsi did not immediately return The Independent’s request for comment on the returning flavor.
Online, fans celebrated the flavor’s reboot after its launch Monday.
“Please keep whiteout a permanent flavor it’s been too long the universe is in chaos with its absence,” one soda drinker wrote to Mountain Dew on X. Another added, “Mountain Dew should have never discontinued White Out, it’s still just as good as it was back in the day.”
A third wrote on X: “Waiting for my Walmart to get these, I want to try Mountain Dew White Out again so bad!”
Mountain Dew is not the only brand rolling out patriotic products to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.
Earlier this month, Oreo introduced an all-new flavor inspired by the iconic red, white and blue-colored ice pop. The limited-edition Oreo has blue raspberry, lemon and cherry flavored creme inside two golden cookies. Chips Ahoy is also releasing red, white and blue cookies called Chips Ahoy! Crunchy Red, White & Blue Candy Blasts.
Cheerios is releasing a limited-edition Birthday Cake cereal flavor filled with sprinkles that will come in a red, white and blue box with fireworks. Plus, Coca-Cola is joining the celebration by releasing collectible state-themed mini bottles and cans.
