Jack Nicholson is enjoying his well-deserved retirement, according to his close pal Michael Douglas.
While promoting his new memoir, One Helluva Ride, at a recent event in Swansea, Wales, Douglas admitted he “would have liked to have acted with” Nicholson, per The Independent.
But, Douglas noted, “He’s not working any more. He’s well. He has disappeared. I know that.”

Although the two never starred in a film together, Douglas produced the 1975 drama One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, which featured Nicholson in his Oscar-winning role.
“I still see him, but he is fine,” Douglas, 82, continued. “He is up there by his house and walking around in his slippers. It happens. He deserves it. I understand. He is a few years older than me, but I understand.”
Nicholson, 89, has not appeared in a film since 2010’s How Do You Know, though he has never formally announced his retirement. His last public appearance was in February 2025 at the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special.
His daughter, Lorraine, offered fans a rare glimpse of the actor on his 89th birthday in April, sharing a photo of him spending time with singer Joni Mitchell.
