Meghan Markle has just been hit with the realities of living outside of the Royal system and its already showing up in their financial lives now that the cost of living has gone up too.
News of this comes via a well placed source that is seeing the couple scramble to cut up before their second home winds up on the market.
According to Heat this source says, “everything’s under the microscope financially right now and their Portuguese place is one of their biggest expenses after Montecito,” if not the biggest.
The reason for this is because of a collection of small fees, from the costs like annual annual club fees which alone “are eye-watering,” according to the insider.
“Then you’ve got insurance, taxes, maintenance, and all the other day-to-day costs of keeping a holiday home running,” they added. So “it’s become a massive luxury at a time when there’s less money coming in and plenty going out.”
As of right now though, its being said nothing is motivating them more than the desperation to keep that bolthole and to achieve that “they’re doing everything they can” because “they absolutely love having that escape,” but the reality is they’re having to look at every major outgoing.
Near the end the insider also dropped some realistic admissions, which is that “if things don’t improve financially, it’s definitely one of the assets that will very likely end up on the chopping block, as painful as that would be.”
Prior to actually signing off they added, “beither of them wants to even think about selling it because they see it as their dream holiday home, but they’re also having to be realistic. There are going to have to be cutbacks and some difficult decisions if they want to get their finances back on track, and that property is right near the top of the list because it’s just so expensive to keep.”
While this revelation came before their move to the UK was announced, a source reveals the couple’s intention behind this move is quite longterm because of the fact that both Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have been enrolled in schools on the Briitsh side of the globe.
