With a combined fortune worth billions of dollars and a fanbase that spans the globe, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were never going to settle for an ordinary wedding planner.
But who is the mastermind behind the elaborate and mysterious ceremony, rumored to be taking place July 3 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden arena?
Reports are circulating that the highly coveted gig is in the hands of Mark Seed, an enigmatic planner of unions between some of the world’s biggest celebrities. Seed has built a reputation for staying out of the spotlight, rarely giving interviews, maintaining virtually no social media presence and keeping his celebrity clients firmly under wraps.
“He is renowned for never, ever talking about his clients,” Page Six reports. NBC also reported that guests were asked to sign non-disclosure agreements as part of the invitation process and were informed of the wedding’s no-phones policy.
According to People, Seed has planned Jennifer Lawrence’s Rhode Island wedding in 2019, Billie Lourd’s Mexico nuptials in 2022, and, most tellingly, the wedding of Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley in New Jersey in 2023, which Swift attended.
One client of Seed’s, actor and producer Sam Ressler, called him a “genius” in an interview with Vogue in 2022, after he planned her wedding to real estate developer Jason Borg.
“He made everything so easy, fun and seamless,” she said. “He’s basically a genius and has the chillest energy. He’s also incapable of panic. He can right-size any problem and can put things in perspective. He really gets that this should just be a celebration of love and a fun experience to plan.”
After eyebrows were raised over Swift’s chosen venue, many pointed out that the pop megastar’s deep pockets would certainly help transform any venue into her dream wedding location.
With Seed in the picture, you can throw away any notions of guests sitting on a sticky arena floor. “He can build something spectacular out of nothing,” a source told Page Six.
Similarly, there is a lot of buzz about which esteemed designer could be crafting Swift’s wedding dress. One formidable contender is Oscar de la Renta, a fashion house with which Swift shares a profound and long-standing relationship, having been behind some of her most significant and memorable fashion moments.
Her recent appearances include a dazzling yellow sequined gown for her “I Knew It, I Knew You” performance at the Toy Story 5 premiere, a vibrant sequin bodysuit during the Eras Tour, and a custom blue quilted floral gown for her concert movie premiere. The brand also dressed her for the 2014 Met Gala.
Other likely choices include Givenchy and Italian brand Alberta Ferretti, responsible for Swift’s ethereal “folklore” dresses during the Eras tour. Vivienne Westwood is also firmly in the running, especially after Swift showcased several of their distinctive designs during the 2024 European leg of her Eras tour.
Shrouded in secrecy, Swift and Kelce’s highly anticipated wedding has already brought a plethora of stars out to New York City. Bradley Cooper, Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, Abigail Anderson, Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff were spotted making their way to the venue Thursday night for the rumored rehearsal dinner.
