Lisandro Martínez, Marcus Rashford miss Man United training ahead of Como clash

Lisandro Martínez and Marcus Rashford missed training ahead of the trip to Como as Manchester United’s injury problems continued to mount.

Martínez’s eventful week, which saw him apologise after publicly criticising the club’s hierarchy, ended with him keeping his place for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Leeds only to be forced off with a thigh complaint.

Rashford was an unused substitute at Elland Road and United confirmed on Tuesday that he is “managing an injury issue.”

The England forward and Martínez were among eight players who missed training at Carrington along with Ayden Heaven, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu and Manuel Ugarte.

Shaw and Mainoo have both missed the last two matches, Heaven was absent from the Leeds game through illness, while Sesko, Dorgu and Ugarte are all injured.

Meanwhile, Matthijs de Ligt is back in training but has not yet featured following back surgery while fellow defender Lenny Yoro is suspended for the Champions League clash in Italy.

Sunday’s Premier League draw made it six matches in a row without a win for United, including last week’s Champions League defeat by Atlético Madrid.
