King Charles and Queen Camilla ready to return to Braemar Gathering

King Charles and Queen Camilla have attended a Sunday service at Crathie Kirk as they continue their annual summer break at Balmoral.

The royal couple arrived at the church near the Balmoral Estate on Sunday morning, continuing a long-standing tradition of worship at the local kirk during their time in Royal Deeside.

Queen Camilla was seen sitting in the front passenger seat as the couple travelled from the estate.

The King followed as a passenger in a Range Rover, accompanied by another vehicle as they made their way to the church.

The appearance comes as the royal couple prepare for another another Scottish summer, with the King and Queen expected to attend the Braemar Gathering on Saturday, September 5.

The latest church visit comes shortly after Balmoral Castle closed its doors to visitors for the 2026 summer season.

A message shared on the Balmoral Castle Facebook page thanked visitors who had explored the castle, grounds, gardens and exhibitions during the season.

It read: “Thank you to everyone who visited the Castle and Estate during the 2026 summer season.

“We hope you enjoyed your time at Balmoral and left with lasting memories of your visit.”
