Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s shock decision to return seemed to have caused quite a bit of stir among the royals, especially for Prince William and Princess Kate.
It is believed that the Sussexes had informed King Charles about their move back to the UK on Sunday, just four days ahead of the major announcement. While it was assumed that the Waleses were unaware, new reports have shared an update on the matter.
The Prince and Princess of Wales had received “prior warning” before the news was officially confirmed by the media.
Kensington Palace has remained silent on Thursday morning, following the bombshell announcement on Wednesday night, which had left William “apoplectic”.
“In the long term, the return of the Sussexes to the UK opens up the prospect of two rival courts, William’s and Harry’s,” Former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt told GB News.
“In the short term, Harry will be able to deepen his rapprochement with his father,” he explained. “And his presence back home will make it harder for his brother to duck a reconciliation.”
He added, “The surprise return of Harry and Meghan is likely to have left William apoplectic.”
However, preparations are reportedly underway at the Palace, but not the kind that would feel welcoming the Sussexes. Reports have claimed that William has called a crisis meeting and has his legal team working out a plan to keep Harry and Meghan out of the royal fold.
The Prince of Wales doesn’t want Harry to have the ‘half-in and half-out’ option as he still doesn’t trust his estranged brother.
