Kelly Osbourne is firing back at Dee Snider after the Twisted Sister frontman questioned her late father Ozzy Osbourne’s songwriting contributions.
In a series of Instagram Stories on Friday, August 14, Kelly defended Ozzy’s decades-long career as snider appeared to smear the Black Sabbath legend.
The clash began after Snider responded to a social media post discussing bassist Bob Daisley’s claim that he wrote much of the lyrics for Ozzy’s solo work. Snider took it further, writing, “‘A load’? How about ALL the lyrics? Ozzy always had bass players write his lyrics,” while also crediting Geezer Butler and Lemmy Kilmister.
Kelly, 41, was quick to defend her father’s place in music history. “My father’s legacy as a musician, songwriter, singer and bandleader speaks for itself,” she wrote, adding that his career “spanned nearly six decades.”
She also criticised Snider for discussing Ozzy’s abilities after his death, writing, “There’s something spectacularly classless about Dee Snider trying to diminish my father Ozzy Osbourne and his extraordinary abilities and achievements when he is no longer here to challenge his allegations.”
Snider, 71, later clarified, “And again. To be clear, I HAVE NOTHING BUT LOVE FOR OZZY. He was always lovely to me. @BlackSabbath changed my life!”
Kelly, however, remained unconvinced. Calling his response a “backhanded compliment,” she accused him of using her father’s name for attention before delivering her bluntest message: “So, in the immortal spirit of Will Smith: keep my father’s name out of your f***ing mouth.”
Ozzy died at 76 on July 22 after suffering a heart attack at his family home in Buckinghamshire, England.
