Jennifer Aniston’s relationship with Jim Curtis has reportedly left some of her closest friends concerned.
A source has come forward, saying some people in Aniston’s inner circle worry that Curtis could be an “opportunist” and sometimes comes across as “performative.”
“Some of Jen’s friends aren’t totally sold on Jim yet,” a source claimed to Page Six. “They worry he could be an opportunist and feel like he can come off a bit performative.”
The Friends star, 57, and Curtis, 50, first sparked romance rumors in July 2025 after they were photographed together during a vacation in Mallorca, Spain. Aniston had reportedly followed Curtis’ work for years before they became romantically involved.
The source said Aniston’s friends are protective of her and only want to make sure she is treated well. While some are still having trouble trusting Curtis, others have fully welcomed him into their group.
A second source told the magazine that several of Aniston’s friends “absolutely adore” Curtis. They believe the pair are a good match and say Aniston has not been this happy in a long time.
“Everybody adores Jen and just wants the best for her because she absolutely deserves the world,” the insider said.
“At the end of the day, if she’s happy then of course they’re happy for her, but they’re also really protective of her and don’t ever want to see her get taken advantage of. Some of them are just having a difficult time fully trusting him right now,” the source claimed.
The mixed reactions come as the couple has become more open about their relationship.
On Wednesday, Aniston joined Curtis onstage at New York City’s 92nd Street Y to interview him about his new book, The Book of Possibility, and he spoke about the serious health problems he faced in his 20s, including spinal cord lesions that left him partially paralysed and with chronic nerve pain.
Aniston also joked with Curtis during the event, teasing him with a risqué comment about “dodging balls.”
“I went to Steiner school just down the street so I would come to this gym every Thursday,” she said, per the Daily Mail.
“And I wasn’t very sporty, but we had to do dodgeball and there were these huge red balls,” Aniston continued. “And there was no field; it was just indoors, so you had to run for your life. So it’s quite a full circle moment to be back here with you.”
Aniston then looked at Curtis and quipped, “Well … speaking of dodging balls …” which sent audience members into hysterics.
At the end of the interview, Aniston asked her beau, “Have I completely embarrassed you?” to which Curtis reponded, “A lot.”
The couple went Instagram-official in November 2025.
