Jenna Ortega was nine when she made her debut as a child actor in the sitcom Rob. However, she recalls making the biggest mistake there.
However, the blunder did not involve acting but her extreme decision to avoid getting in anyone’s way.
This, in turn, led her to go an entire day on set without food or water.
In her own words in an Esquire interview, she explains, “I really had it going for me as a child ‘cause I can’t think of one mistake I made.”
Though she initially struggled to name one, she then adds, “Is that a terrible thing to say?”
“I feel like I make mistakes now all the time, but as a child, I was so grateful and so excited to be there that my game face was on.”
But that strong determination to stay on her toes had its own downside.
Ortega shares, “I wasn’t asking for a sip of water. I would go all day without eating, drinking, whatever, because I wanted so badly to not be in the way of anybody.”
Now, reflecting on it, she clearly admitted, “Maybe that was my mistake, was not actually looking after myself.
Ortega, after Rob, went on to appear in different movies that opened her path to stardom.
