Jamie Lee Curtis shares emotional update on Rob Reiner’s children

Jamie Lee Curtis is making sure Jake and Romy Reiner know they haven’t been left to face life without their parents alone.

The actress recently spoke to Extra about staying close to the siblings following the deaths of their parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, on December 15, 2025.

For Curtis, the connection runs far deeper than Hollywood friendship.

“Of course, I mean, we are family,” Curtis said of the pair. “Something like this brings people so much closer. Like Jake and I were sitting shoulder-to-shoulder doing an interview…. and just feeling him there is emotional, and then of course him talking about his parents and their fantastic relationship.”

She also acknowledged that the family is still processing the loss. “There hasn’t been a big public memorial yet, and so we’re all grieving,” she said.

Curtis previously paid tribute to Rob during the 78th Emmy Awards’ In Memoriam segment, an experience she later admitted was harder than expected.

“I felt a responsibility to represent everyone — strangers, fans, colleagues, friends, close friends and family — in that moment at the Emmys,” said Curtis. “I was happy to do it, but it was a little tougher than I anticipated.”

Their bond goes back decades. Curtis and her husband, Christopher Guest, married at Rob’s home in 1984, with the filmmaker serving as best man. Rob and Michele were also godparents to Curtis’ daughter Annie.

Now, Curtis is set to receive the inaugural Michele and Rob Reiner Champion for Change Award at the Children’s Institute’s Cape & Gown Gala on November 8. Jake will present the honor.

“The whole thing is filled with such sadness and disbelief and he loved them so much. I want it to be joyful. I want it to be celebratory,” Curtis told the outlet.

“I wanted to be honouring it. It’s not a memorial. It is a moving forward together using their energy to inspire all of us.”
