How did Tim Curry die? Police respond to medical call at his home

Tim Curry, the iconic British character famous for his unforgettable character of Dr Frank-N-Furter in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show: has died at age 80.

He passed away peacefully at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, on August 25. His longtime manager and friend Marcia Hurwitz stated that emergency personnel responded to a medical call at his residence late Tuesday night, where he was pronounced dead. Police suspected no foul play.

The official cause of death is not known, but Curry was managing long-term health complications since suffering a major stroke in 2012. After the stroke, his left side was paralysed, and he faced mobility issues, requiring him to use a wheelchair.

In his 2025 memoir, he wrote about his life, career, and connection with fans. His book’s closing passages stated: “ The notion that my experiences might resonate helps me preserve, if they strike a chord with only one teenager, alone with a book in his room, as I so often was; or that young woman reading this on an interminably long bus ride; or that older queen, hopeful still in his fishnets, who saw ‘Rocky Horror’ upstairs at the Royal Court.”

Curry earned three Tony nominations for his Broadway work, including “Spamalot,” “My Favorite Year,” and “Amadeus.”

Curry never married and had no children.
