Hayden Panettiere’s sudden death shocked thousands of her fans on Sunday. Social media websites are flooded with tributes to the actress who died at 36.
As tributes poured in on social media, an old interview of the actress also resurfaced in which she recalled a horrific story of betrayal at the hands of a female friend.
Hayden Panettiere did not name the “friend” or the “man” from whom she defended herself during a night out at sea.
A large number of fans expressed the wish that she had disclosed the name of the singer and the female friend to somebody she trusted and that one day the duo would be named and shamed.
Appearing on the Jay Shetty podcast, Hayden Panettiere said she was 18 when a woman she trusted as a protector took her below deck on a yacht and physically put her in bed beside an undressed “very famous” man.
Hayden Panettiere only described the man as a “famous thirtysomething British singer-songwriter” who was undressed in bed on a South of France yacht.
“By the time I’d realized I was in danger, I was quite literally out to sea,” she said. “She physically put me in the bed next to this undressed man who was very famous.” “My hair stood on end and I became ferocious. I was like, ‘This is not happening.’”
“I bolted and hid wherever I could think of to hide on a boat. There was no jumping off and swimming away.”
“When you really find somebody that you trust, you hold on to them for dear life. So, to be betrayed like that is just an awful feeling.”
