Harry Kane reaches new milestones in landmark England outing

Harry Kane scored twice to take his international goal tally to 91 as he made a record-tying 125th England appearance in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Czechia at Wembley.

The Bayern Munich striker moved level with former goalkeeper Peter Shilton on the list of most caps won for England’s men’s team. He can break the record when England play Croatia on Nov. 12, also at Wembley.

The 33-year-old Kane scored a national record-extending 90th goal by sweeping home a close-range finish in the 40th minute of the Nations League clash.

He is the the fifth active player to reach 90 international goals, joining Cristiano Ronaldo (146), Lionel Messi (125), Romelu Lukaku (94) and Robert Lewandowski (92).

Kane added a second goal in the 57th minute, heading in a corner from Lewis Hall.

And own goal from Vladimír Coufal handed England the opener to propel Thomas Tuchel’s side to a third consecutive win and all but secure their place in the Nations League knockouts

Kane’s first goal was also his 50th goal for club and country in 2026, by far the most of any player in Europe’s top five leagues. France and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé sits second on the list with 33.

The fans showed their appreciation for him as he was given an extra loud cheer before kickoff while also receiving a standing ovation when he came off in the 82nd minute.

Kane has been England captain since 2018 and is among the favorites to win the Ballon d’Or when the prestigious award is handed out on Oct. 26 in London.

He made his England debut in March 2015, scoring inside 80 seconds of coming on as a substitute against Lithuania.

Kane now has 37 more goals than Wayne Rooney, who is No. 2 on the scoring list.

Shilton, who played for England from 1970-90, congratulated Kane in a video message on social media — and said the former Tottenham striker could set an appearance record that “might never be beaten.”

“Because you’re still going strong, Harry,” the 77-year-old Shilton said. “You’re still playing well and scoring goals. And I know how much dedication and hard work you actually put into achieving this.”
