The highly anticipated sixth edition of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) video game is all set for release in November after facing multiple delays. Rough estimates suggest that development of the game cost over $2 billion, a sum larger than the money spent on construction of Burj Khalifa.
As GTA VI fever is gripping the gaming enthusiasts, a former developer for Rockstar Games has raised the alarm that the game might face another six month delay before final release.
The Rockstar Games has scheduled the official release of GTA VI for November 19, 2026. It will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Pre-orders and pre-loads were launched on June 25, with digital pre-loading expected to begin on November 12.
A former Rockstar Games developer said: “I will not be shocked if the game gets delayed for another six months,” raising concerns among the gaming community.
On Polymarket, the world’s largest decentralized prediction market platform that allows users to bet on the outcomes of real-world events, there’s an 11 percent chance that the game will be delayed again.
One of the gamers reacted to the prediction, stating, “It won’t happen. They’ve sent the pre-orders live, and the game is coming out in a little over three months. We would’ve got the delay announcement instead of pre-orders if this was the case.”
Another expressed concern, stating, “I would really like to understand why there are so many delays, is this biz. decision or technical debt decision .. it would be insane to delay for 6 months after 13 years of development.. What else is there to be made for f**ks sake!”
This is just a prediction for now as Rockstar Games hasn’t officially indicated another delay and all signs point to a timely release of the game.
