Early trends from the Election Commission of India point to a decisive electoral churn across key states, with the BJP-led NDA tightening its grip in the East and Northeast, while regional dynamics shift dramatically in the South.
Multiple media reports said that the trends suggest a seismic shift in state elections: the BJP holds a strong lead for an absolute majority in West Bengal and Assam, the Congress-led UDF dominates in Kerala, and Actor Vijay’s TVK has surged, leading in Tamil Nadu.Â
In West Bengal (293/294 seats, majority 148), the BJP is on course for a landslide, leading/winning in 195 seats (1 won, 194 leads), well past the halfway mark. The ruling TMC+ trails at 92 seats, indicating a sharp reversal from previous elections.

In Assam (126/126 seats, majority 64), the NDA looks set for a comfortable second term, leading/winning in 90 seats (3 won, 87 leads). The Congress-led alliance lags significantly at 22 seats, with others making up the rest.
Tamil Nadu (234/234 seats, majority 118) is throwing up the biggest surprise. Actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is leading in 105 seats, positioning itself as the single largest force in early trends. The DMK+ follows with 70 seats (2 won, 68 leads), while the AIADMK+ is at 59 seats, signaling a potential three-way realignment in state politics.

In Kerala (140/140 seats, majority 71), the Congress-led UDF is firmly ahead with 98 seats (27 won, 71 leads), comfortably above the majority mark. The ruling LDF trails at 35 seats, while the NDA remains marginal at 2 seats.
Taken together, the numbers suggest a fragmented yet decisive mandate: BJP dominance in Bengal and Assam, a potential political reset in Tamil Nadu led by TVK, and a clear return to power for the UDF in Kerala.
