Dylan Sprouse didn’t need a carefully crafted DM to fall for Barbara Palvin.
Apparently, all it took was a red carpet line, a little attitude and one brutal hot-dog joke.
The former Disney Channel star recently revealed that the couple’s real first meeting in 2017 was far more spontaneous than the internet’s usual version of their love story.
Appearing on Amanda Hirsch’s Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast, Sprouse recalled meeting Palvin at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party, where the model casually cut in front of him.
“We met in person at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party, and she cut me in line for the red carpet. Totally like a rom-com, she just jumps over the red velvet divider and cuts me,” he said.
Sprouse wasn’t about to let it slide.
“And I was like, ‘I don’t care how pretty you are, you’re not cutting me.’ And she turns around, and I’m wearing this red and white striped shirt, and she goes, ‘What, are you a hot dog vendor?’”
His response? Basically, game over.
After suggesting they meet up, Sprouse told Palvin to “wait by the door,” while also offering to continue their trash talk over direct message. Her reply apparently sealed the deal: “Hey I’m still here by the door. Are you coming or not?”
Sprouse admitted he felt so “in” after the exchange.
Fast-forward nearly a decade, and the pair is now married and expecting their first child, a daughter. They tied the knot in Hungary in 2023 and announced the pregnancy at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
Turns out, the best love stories really can start with cutting a line.
