Two dog supplements have been recalled over potential contamination fears.
New York-based brand Fi issued the recall after learning that due to an ingredient supplied to its manufacturer may be contaminated with salmonella.
“The manufacturer has suspended production while it investigates,” a notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration stated. “Fi is promptly notifying all affected customers out of an abundance of caution.”
The affected supplements include Fi Calming supplement for Dogs with the Lot Number 26118 and UPC 8 50064 80011 1, as well as the Fi 8-in-1 Formula supplement for Dogs with the Lot Number 26159 and UPC 8 50055 11168 4. Both come in 180g containers.
Potentially contaminated products were sold directly to consumers, and also through Amazon and Chewy.

In pets, symptoms of a salmonella infection can include vomiting, decreased appetite, lethargy and diarrhea. The bacteria can also impact humans and produce symptoms including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever, per the FDA.
The Fi supplement recall is the most recent to plague pet owners.
In late August, Northwest Naturals of Portland, Oregon issued a voluntary recall for select lots of its frozen raw pet food due to potential contamination with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.
The affected products include 53 cases of 2-pound bags of Northwest Naturals Frozen Chicken Recipe for cats (Lot B-5, UPC 087316384956) and 19 cases of 6-pound bags of Northwest Naturals Frozen Raw Diet for Dogs Chicken Recipe (Lot B-19, UPC 087316380392), which were distributed to retail stores nationwide.
The recall was initiated after testing by the FDA revealed that the cat food tested positive for Salmonella, while the dog food tested positive for both Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.
No animal or human illnesses have been reported to date, but consumers who purchased the recalled pet food are advised to stop using it immediately and return unused portions to the place of purchase for a full refund.
In July, Mars Petcare recalled two lots of Pedigree canned wet dog food. The cans were sent to be destroyed after failing quality checks but were instead “fraudulently diverted” and sold nationwide, a Mars spokesperson said in a statement shared with The Independent.
Customers who have bought the affected items should immediately stop feeding them to their pets and contact the company for a replacement. Pet owners who believe their pet might have consumed contaminated food should contact their veterinarian.
