Catherine Zeta Jones voiced her thoughts about children of famous parents, saying they should not be blamed for the families they were born into.
The actor shares two children, Dylan and Carys, with Michael Douglas.
Both have grown up with famous parents and have known the attention that comes with being part of a well known family.
Talking about the criticism faced by celebrity children, Zeta Jones said: “They didn’t ask to be born into fame.”
She knows that her children have had chances that many other young people may not have.
Their parents are famous, they have strong links in Hollywood and they have grown up around people from the film world.
But she feels that none of this is something Dylan and Carys chose for themselves.
The two children are now making their own choices.
Dylan has followed acting, while Carys has shown an interest in fashion and modelling.
Their family name is also very well known. Michael Douglas is the son of Hollywood star Kirk Douglas, so Dylan and Carys grew up with famous people in their family for generations.
The debate over “nepo babies” has grown in recent years, with many people saying famous parents can make it easier to get work.
Zeta Jones, however, believes children should not be judged simply because they were born into a famous family.
