Before Dune: Part Two, Anya Taylor-Joy’s role had been kept under wraps. Then, briefly, her character was revealed in the film.
Now, ahead of Dune: Part Three, where she has a key part to play, the actress is reacting to a comment by her co-star and on-screen brother, Timothée Chalamet.
In an IMAX fan event, the Wonka star raved about Taylor-Joy’s performance, describing her as “unbelievable in this movie. Visually, it was breathtaking; she’s actually terrifying and amazing.”
“Anya is something special in this movie,” he gushed, adding, “I did breathtaking to work with her on the second one.”
Upon such a laurel, Taylor-Joy told People, “If I scare Timmy, then we’re off to a good start.”
Beyond this compliment, the actress’s poignant portrayal of Alia Atreides has sparked considerable interest among Dune fans.
In Taylor-Joy’s words, she is an emotionally complex character, as the star previously told CinemaBlend, stating, “Alia has a very intense blessing-curse situation.”
She continued, “She carries the weight and the wisdom of generations and generations in her head.”
The actress added, “She’s never in a singular conversation. It’s kind of all, everything, everywhere all at once.”
“And the one thing that she really feels most strongly about is her love and devotion to her brother, because that is the only person who’s ever made her feel like she makes sense.”
Dune: Part Three in cinemas on Dec. 17.
