Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, despite the ongoing tensions, became grandparents once again to Princess Eugenie’s first daughter after two sons.
This was a particularly special moment for Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, who are already parents to sons August, five, and Ernest, three, as they noted being “beyond in love” with their “girlie”.
The happy news came around the time when the York family had been struggling with the immense media scrutiny following the release of the Epstein files. Andrew and Fergie have been firmly gripped by the scandal and it had been affecting the lives of their two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
It was previously pointed out by royal expert Jennie Bond that Andrew and Sarah are unlikely to be in the family photos when the baby arrives. Now sources have given an update about whether the ex-couple would be able to see their new granddaughter any time soon. Whenever that happens, it won’t be on any socials.
“Both Sarah and Andrew are banned from posting about the baby – it’s just too risky,” a source told Woman’s Day. “This is an ongoing agreement and unlikely to change any time soon – it’s also why Sarah’s been quiet on social media since September.”
Keeping the backlash and media scrutiny in mind, the couple broke away from royal family tradition and had their daughter in Lisbon, Portugal, rather than London.
“Eugenie’s been very strict about shielding her kids from her family’s scandals. Portugal has become a lifeline for her and Jack throughout this entire nightmare and she wants to protect their young family,” the insider added.
“As hard as it is, she seemingly feels she has to be seen to have cut ties with both her parents, especially now the Royals are starting to back her again.”
