Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been hit by another unexpected setback at his Norfolk residence, with a nearby nature reserve issuing a serious wildfire warning as dry conditions continue to grip the region.
Wild Ken Hill nature reserve, located less than five miles from Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate, has raised its fire risk level to “extremely high”, warning that tinder-dry ground and rising temperatures have created dangerous conditions.
His new home sits within King Charles’s vast 20,000-acre Sandringham estate, surrounded by countryside that has become a key feature of the area.
Wild Ken Hill shared the alert with residents on July 17, urging visitors and locals to take extra care as the hot weather increases the risk of fires spreading quickly.
“With the ground tinder-dry and temperatures climbing again, the risk of wildfire at Wild Ken Hill and across the country is EXTREMELY HIGH right now,” the reserve said.
The warning echoes the devastating wildfire that struck the nearby Coastal Park near Snettisham Beach in July 2022, during Britain’s hottest day on record.
The blaze, fuelled by strong winds, destroyed around 33 hectares of coastal habitat before firefighters, reserve staff and local volunteers brought it under control.
Investigations after the 2022 fire found several potential causes, including discarded glass bottles, aluminium cans, disposable barbecues and evidence of wild camping.
“Please help us protect this place. It is both rich in nature and a green space for us all to enjoy,” the organisation said.
It comes amid reports that King Charles has no plans to include him in the Royal Family’s summer gathering at Balmoral.
